The Azure SQL DW Automation hands-on lab explores technologies available on Microsoft’s cloud data warehouse platform in combination with the advanced Data Warehouse and Big Data Automation provided by biGENIUS.
Microsoft’s cloud data warehouse, Azure SQL Data Warehouse, provides enterprises with significant advantages like high performance analytics, scalability and reduced costs. Leveraging massively parallel processing (MPP) to quickly run complex queries across petabytes of data, data warehousing on Azure easily outperforms traditional on-premises data warehouse platforms.
But an enterprise data warehouse doesn’t exist in isolation. It is part of a complete analytics solution including often many disparate data sources, ELT pipelines to load, extract and transform the data as well as staging and reporting layers. Relying on “good old” manual coding to build and maintain such solutions is not only expensive and time-consuming, but long-term also risky for the flexibility of your solution.

Technical: Participants are kindly asked to bring their own laptop with a running Windows OS and access to an Azure Subscription or Resource Group with rights to provision and delete the following Azure services:
- SQL DATA WAREHOUSE
- POWER BI
Please mind, that a free trial subscription may not include all the services you need for your lab data warehouse solution. You are encouraged to use the existing Azure subscription of your organization and “take away” the lab and perfect your skills on your own.
